The MCA receives financial support from a number of sources including: the University of Kansas Cancer Center, membership fees, grants, and donations from community and corporate organizations and individuals.

For the 12 months starting July 2007, the University of Kansas Cancer Center is investing $1 million in the Midwest Cancer Alliance. A portion of that investment is funded by the $5 million per year provided to the University of Kansas Cancer Center by the State of Kansas. With that funding, the MCA is currently providing up to 50 percent in matching funds for Kansas members' annual dues, advancing the clinical trials infrastructure, and supporting outreach and education programs.
