Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, located in central Kansas, has become a major medical hub serving central and southwest Kansas. Backed by a progressive medical and dental staff, they continue to add new services and experience growth in well-established service.
Hutchinson Regional Medical Center is home to the Chalmers Cancer Treatment Center, which provides services for the care and treatment of patients with cancer. Under the direction of radiation oncologist Barbara Luder MD, Chalmers provides two forms of Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT). Their TomoTherapy Unit integrates optimized planning, daily CT imaging and helical IMRT treatment to provide precise, continuous radiation therapy from 360 degrees. Their Clinac 21 EX accelerator allows a radiation beam to configure to the shape of the tumor while rotating around the patient, allowing for a higher dosage of cancer-killing radiation to be directed at the tumor, without harming surrounding healthy tissue.
Other common procedures include Conformal Radiotherapy using a 24-slice CT simulator, Brachytherapy and I-131 radioactive oral medication.
Medical oncologists Dr. Fadi Estephan, and Dr. Bassam Ghabach, MD, located at Hutchinson Clinic complete the team.
